Shopping Trip San Diego

Preparing For a Shopping Trip in San Diego

For those who enjoy shopping, San Diego is an exciting city to visit. Among other things, it offers outdoor malls, high-end clothing stores, discount retailers and niche specialty shops. The area also features a pleasant climate and numerous transit options. It’s important to learn a little more about the city while preparing to go shopping in San Diego.

Transportation

There are many ways to travel from one shop, eatery or hotel to another. Four major taxi companies offer similar rates, and several firms provide limo service. The San Diego Trolley light rail system and Metropolitan Transit buses stop near numerous retail establishments. To save money on multiple bus or trolley rides, buy an MTS day pass.

Parking Rules

When parking a car, don,t forget to check the color-coded curb marking. Blue spaces are only for disabled drivers, and red zones prohibit all parking. Shoppers should be aware that San Diego police monitor all parking meters Monday through Saturday. On Sunday, they only check meters that have yellow poles.

Local Weather

Visitors can expect moderate temperatures and limited rainfall throughout much of the year in San Diego. Most rain showers occur between November and March. We recommend bringing a rain jacket and umbrella on holiday shopping trips. Some customers plan visits to the mall on rainy days and peruse outdoor markets when the weather is dry.

No San Diego shopping adventure would be complete without a trip to Bazaar del Mundo. Our Taylor Street market features gifts, clothing, accessories, artwork and housewares from many countries. Visitors can also browse a variety of artisan jewelry and enjoy delicious Mexican cuisine.

Shopping Safely

Although San Diego is a safe place to shop, it’s always wise to take a few precautions when purchasing high-value goods. A number of local hotels offer in-room safes; they provide an excellent place to store costly items. Remember that it can be difficult to return merchandise after a trip. Be sure to inspect and try it out before leaving California.
